Summary
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a disease caused by multiple etiological factors, both environmental and genetic, affecting more than 1.8 million people worldwide. The project will investigate the ability of the Human Endogenous Retroviruses (HERVs) of exerting oncogenic potential, due to their (re)activation and translocation properties, in colon tissue, by themselves or in synergy with gut microbiota.
