Study of the role of inflammatory mediators and endothelial dysfunctions in the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases
Date: 30/11/2023 – 29/11/2025
Principal investigator: Lucia Signorini, PhD
Summary
Vascular endothelium is a major player in the control of blood fluidity, coagulation mechanisms and inflammatory responses. Respiratory viruses can damage vascular endothelial cells and it is likely that they interplay with other risk factors to cause vascular diseases. The main objective of this project is to propose a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the role of respiratory viruses infections on the mechanisms that trigger inflammation and thrombotic events.
