Serena Delbue

I obtained my PhD in Molecular Medicine in 2004 at the University of Milan, after having spent a good part of my postgraduate studies at the Center for Neurovirology and Cancer Biology, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. I am currently also Adjunct Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology of the same Temple University in Philadelphia. The main focus of my research has always been the study of the pathogenesis and molecular characterization of human Polyomaviruses, which reactivate in immunosuppressed patients. Following the pandemic that has affected everyone since 2020, another important focus is represented by the isolation and genomic analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as the antiviral activity of numerous compounds and treatments against the same betacoronavirus. I teach Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology in some degree courses at the University of Milan and I am part of the teaching staff of the Doctorate in Translational Medicine of the same University.

I love spending my free time cycling and walking in the mountains.
