Retired professor
Graduated in Biological Sciences, I specialized in Tumor Immunology first at the National Cancer Institute, NCI, in Bethesda, MD, US and then at the Tumor Institute of Milan. Since 1989, I have taught General Pathology at the University of Milan, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery first and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences until today. My research areas concern the immune response and pathogenesis of infectious diseases, in particular malaria, and the search for new drugs. Over the years, together with the researchers of the group, I have participated in numerous projects funded by Italian and foreign institutions, and established collaborative relationships with research groups in Asia and Africa, where the diseases we deal with are endemic. The research has led to the identification of new methods and new potentially anti-parasitic molecules.
Outside the laboratory, I have taken care of the family with three children, I love exhibitions and concerts, but above all, despite being originally from Umbria, I love Milan and the energy and innovative vivacity that it always shows.
