During my PhD I investigated, in particular, the detoxification mechanism of hemoglobin heme to hemozoin (malarial pigment), a vital process for malarial parasites and a potential pharmacological target. Since my graduation in CTF my interest has been mainly focused on drugs but, thanks to the collaboration with colleagues in the group, I also study the pathogenesis of Malaria and Leishmaniasis and host-parasite interactions. Currently, in the laboratory of Parasitology and Immunology I mainly deal with the identification of molecules active against the protozoa Plasmodium and Leishmania and the study of new molecular targets. I also participate in the search for active substances against SARS-CoV-2. The courses I teach are focused on Diagnostic Techniques in Microbiology.

Balancing work and private life is never easy and I dedicate all the time I have left to my family and friends.

Personal web page

[44

post-1588","person","type-person","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","person_category-associate-professor
